Six Mile Bottom Shoot – Simulated Game Shooting at its finest
Mark Eves

Mark Eves

Tucked away in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside, Six Mile Bottom Shoot offers one of the most realistic and enjoyable simulated game shooting experiences available in the UK. Just 50 miles from London, and easily accessible from all over East Anglia, this shoot combines exceptional terrain, professional delivery, and warm hospitality to create an unforgettable day in the field.

Having personally taken part in a shoot day at Six Mile Bottom, I can vouch for the outstanding quality of the experience. From the moment you arrive at Wadlow Lodge, the attention to detail is clear—each drive is meticulously planned to mimic real game shooting, with challenging targets that simulate pheasant, partridge, and grouse. The variety across drives is excellent, with topography and wind cleverly used to test even experienced shots.

Simulated game with a purpose

What sets Six Mile Bottom apart is its authenticity. Every element is designed to reflect the rhythm and realism of a traditional game day, but without the need for a shooting season. Whether you’re warming up ahead of the season, entertaining clients, or enjoying a team day out, this is as close as it gets to the real thing.

Drives are run with safety and efficiency, and the team on the ground—led by owners Richard and Jackie Clarke—are not only professional but also personable and passionate about what they do. Their years of experience show in the seamless flow of the day and the balance they strike between formality and fun.

Tailored experiences for individuals, groups, and corporate clients

Six Mile Bottom Shoot offers a variety of shooting packages:

  • Individual Peg Days – Ideal for solo guns or smaller groups looking to meet others on the day. Everyone is welcomed, regardless of ability.

  • Private Group Days – Perfect for birthdays, stag or hen events, or just a good excuse to get a team together for a competitive yet relaxed day outdoors.

  • Corporate Events – A popular venue for businesses seeking a memorable and well-organised day out. Branded caps, trophies, hospitality, and expert guidance are all included.

Events are hosted throughout the week and on Saturdays, with customisable catering and flexible schedules.

Wadlow Lodge and the setting

The base for the shoot, Wadlow Lodge, is a purpose-built facility set amidst rolling fields and well-kept woodland. It provides a scenic and practical HQ for the day, where guests are welcomed with hot drinks and breakfast, and where stories are shared over lunch or a post-shoot drink.

The shoot’s layout makes excellent use of the landscape—valleys, hedgerows, open spaces, and wooded drives all feature, and every peg offers something different. Whether it’s high curling clays or fast-driven birds, there’s plenty to challenge your timing, instinct, and skill.
