Days are typically run with small, close-knit teams of Guns, walking in line with dogs working the cover ahead. The ground is varied — from damp rushy pastures and bracken-strewn woodland fringes to hedgerows and open heather. This variety provides excellent holding ground for Woodcock and Snipe, especially through the winter months when migratory birds arrive in good numbers.

Expect fast-flushing birds, unpredictable flight lines, and a real test of both reflexes and fieldcraft. Pheasants encountered are hardy and strong-flying, often rising at close quarters through thick cover. The addition of Woodcock and Snipe brings excitement and a wildness that is hard to match elsewhere.

Our shoot days are low-key and conservation-minded, often bagging modest numbers with the focus on sporting quality over quantity. Dogs are not only welcome but essential, and part of the day’s pleasure lies in watching them work the ground.
