Grouping and Zeroing

Overview

Zeroing and grouping are fundamental steps in setting up a rifle for accurate shooting.

Grouping refers to firing several rounds (usually 3 to 5) at a target to see how consistently the shooter and rifle place shots. A tight group indicates good consistency and precision.

Zeroing is the process of adjusting the rifle’s sights or optics so that the point of aim matches the point of impact at a specific distance (commonly 100 metres). Once a consistent group is achieved, the sights are adjusted to center the group on the target, effectively “zeroing” the rifle.

Together, grouping and zeroing ensure both shooter accuracy and correct alignment of the rifle’s sights or scope.
