Welcome to A.W. Rule & Son Gun Makers Ltd, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern service.

 

Who We Are

For nearly six decades, our family-run business has been dedicated to the art of gunmaking, stockmaking, restoration and servicing. Located in Somerton, Somerset, we combine apprentice-trained gunmakers, expert woodworkers, skilled metalworkers, and decades of experience to deliver work of the highest quality.

 

What We Do

We are more than just gunmakers. Our full in-house service offers:

  • Gun restorations & servicing – from basic end-of-season cleanups to full rebuilds of treasured pieces.
  • Stock & forend work – including bespoke hand-crafted stocks using our premium air-dried walnut, stock alterations to improve fit, and bespoke restocking.
  • Barrel and action work, regulation & general repairs – all handled carefully in our workshop to ensure safety, reliability and performance.
  • Retail & accessories – select shotguns, rifles, air rifles & air pistols; quality shooting accessories; gun cases; cartridges; and gun stock blanks for those wanting to craft or restore.

  • Quality of materials: We use only the finest air-dried Turkish walnut for our stocks and blanks, personally selected for grain, strength, and character.
  • Safety & reliability: Clean, well-maintained firearms are safer firearms. We believe in full servicing, trustworthy repairs, and putting safety first in all we do.
  • Personal service: Because we are a comparatively small, independent business, we can offer flexibility, care, and a personal touch. Whether you bring in an heirloom or a modern sporting gun, we treat every item with respect.
